# SYNOPSIS
44+
45+
**kcc-c2e** [_options_] _input_...
46+
47+
# DESCRIPTION
48+
49+
**kcc-c2e** is the command-line comic-to-ebook converter from **Kindle Comic Converter** (KCC). It rebuilds comics and manga as fixed-layout files sized to a specific e-ink screen: pages fill the display without extra margins, blacks are leveled for e-ink, and two-page spreads can be split or rotated. Despite the Kindle-oriented name, it also targets Kobo, reMarkable, and other readers.
50+
51+
Input may be a folder of PNG, JPG, GIF, or WebP images; a CBZ, CBR, CB7, ZIP, RAR, or 7Z archive (archive formats other than a simple ZIP typically need **7z** on PATH); a PDF (images are extracted or rendered); or an EPUB. Output is **MOBI**/**AZW3** (Kindle), **EPUB** (plain **.epub** or Kobo **.kepub.epub**), **CBZ**, **PDF**, **KFX**, or **MOBI+EPUB**. With **-f Auto** (the default), Kindle profiles produce MOBI, Kobo profiles produce EPUB/KEPUB, reMarkable profiles produce PDF, and Kindle DX produces CBZ.
52+
53+
The generated **.mobi** is a dual MOBI/AZW3 container; the **.mobi** extension is kept for compatibility. MOBI and KFX conversion need Amazon **kindlegen** (commonly installed with Kindle Previewer). KOReader users can skip KindleGen by writing CBZ instead.
54+
55+
A Qt GUI is installed as **kcc** (not a shell converter). **kcc-c2p** is a companion CLI that splits tall images into device-height pages.
56+
57+
# PARAMETERS
58+
59+
**-p** _PROFILE_, **--profile** _PROFILE_
60+
> Device profile. Default **KV** (Kindle Voyage, 1072x1448). Kindle examples: **K1**, **K2**, **K34**, **K57**, **K810**, **KDX**, **KPW**, **KV**, **KPW34**, **KPW5**, **KPW6**, **KO**, **K11**, **KCS**, **KS**, **KS3**, **KSCS**. Kobo examples: **KoMT**, **KoG**, **KoGHD**, **KoA**, **KoAHD**, **KoAH2O**, **KoAO**, **KoN**, **KoC**, **KoCC**, **KoL**, **KoLC**, **KoF**, **KoS**, **KoE**. reMarkable: **Rmk1**, **Rmk2**, **RmkPP**, **RmkPPMove**. **OTHER** is an empty custom profile (use **--customwidth** / **--customheight**). Run **-h** for the list shipped with this version.
61+
62+
**-m**, **--manga-style**
63+
> Right-to-left reading and split order (manga). For CBZ output, page-turn direction is still set by the reader.
64+
65+

# CAVEATS
141+
142+
Not Amazon's **Kindle Comic Creator**, and not endorsed by Amazon.
143+
144+
MOBI/KFX output needs **kindlegen**. Without it, conversion stops at EPUB. CBZ and PDF do not need KindleGen.
145+
146+
Do not open or edit KCC output in **Calibre**. Calibre does not handle this fixed-layout MOBI/EPUB correctly and can break layout and page numbers. Copy the file onto the device over USB (typically the **documents** folder).
147+
148+
Kindle Scribe 2025 MOBI often shows blank pages; PDF is the recommended output. PNG on Kindle Scribe and several formats on Kindle Colorsoft can also blank pages; JPEG is safer on stock firmware.
149+
150+
The CLI exposes combinations that can reduce quality. Prefer a matching **-p** profile over a generic size.
151+
152+
**7z** is optional but much faster, and required for some archive types and features.
153+
154+
Re-converting a file already produced by KCC degrades quality.
155+

# HISTORY
157+
158+
**Kindle Comic Converter** was started in **2012** by **Ciro Mattia Gonano** as a cross-platform alternative to **KindleComicParser**. **Paweł Jastrzębski** (AcidWeb) maintained it from **2013** to **2019**, with later work by **Darodi** and **Alex Xu** (from **2023**). It is written in Python and released under the ISC License. **kcc-c2e** is the comic2ebook CLI; current package version is **11.0.3** (2026).

27+
# DESCRIPTION
28+
29+
**kcc-c2p** is the command-line comic-to-panel splitter from **Kindle Comic Converter** (KCC). It walks directories of raster images, detects panel-like regions in tall pages, and cuts them into new PNG pages that fit a target screen height. That is useful for webtoon-style strips and oversized scans before loading them on an e-reader.
30+
31+
Input must be one or more **directories** of images, not a CBZ/CBR/PDF. Non-image files in those trees are removed. Detected panels that exceed the target height are split (with overlap on very tall panels). The original image is deleted after a successful split.
32+
33+
The Qt GUI is **kcc**. Full ebook conversion (MOBI, EPUB, CBZ, PDF, device profiles) is **kcc-c2e**, which also has a **-w** webtoon mode. Use **kcc-c2p** when you only need to slice folders of images.
34+
35+
**-y** is required. With no input, or with an empty input list, the tool prints help and exits **1**.
36+
37+
# PARAMETERS
38+
39+
**-y** _HEIGHT_, **--height** _HEIGHT_
40+
> Target device screen height in pixels. Required. Conversion is skipped with an error if this is unset or **0**.
41+
42+
**-x** _WIDTH_, **--width** _WIDTH_
43+
> Target device screen width in pixels. Used when computing a virtual height cap (widths above 1072 are scaled down internally).
44+
45+
**-i**, **--in-place**
46+
> Declared as "overwrite source directory". Current **11.0.3** always writes into the input tree and does not branch on this flag.
47+
48+
**-m**, **--merge**
49+
> Combine every directory into a single image before splitting. Directories that would exceed a very large combined height (on the order of hundreds of thousands of pixels) fail instead of merging.
50+
51+
**-d**, **--debug**
52+
> Write a ***-debug.png** overlay for each split image showing detected panel rectangles.
53+
54+
**-h**, **--help**
55+
> Print help and exit.
56+
57+
# CAVEATS
58+
59+
Only directories of images are accepted. Convert archives with **kcc-c2e** or extract them first.
60+
61+
The tool always works in the input directory. Successful splits **delete** the source image after writing the new PNG pages. Copy the tree first if you need the originals.
62+
63+
Work is parallelized with a process pool. A worker crash aborts the run and may delete the target tree.
64+
65+
This is a preprocessor, not a full ebook converter: there is no device profile, no MOBI/EPUB output, and no KindleGen step.
