Folders Not Grouping Below Notes in Custom File Explorer Sorting

The problem I'm having is that instead of being grouped at the bottom of the file explorer, all folders are alphabetical and mixed into the notes.

Created sortspec.md with:

sorting-spec: |
  order-asc: a-z
  folders-last
---

Enabled the Custom File Explorer Sorting plugin, toggled sorting, and Restarted Obsidian.
Reset Obsidian completely (deleted .obsidian folder).
I tried a fresh test vault and reinstalled everything.
Still no luck—folders just won’t be listed at the bottom! What am I missing? I would appreciate any insights before I lose my mind. 😅 Thanks!
