Ringing artifacts are to be expected when deconvolving, and rotation of diffraction spikes is deconvolving. But
a. It didn't use to do this 2 months ago
b. The diffraction spikes aren't enough to cause this. They are a small fraction of the power
c. Beyond the diffraction spikes in the core, we should be able to get way with some deconvolution. It's not a sharp transition.
I believe this is the same issue that @laldoroty @thomasvrussell @rknop have been discussing for phrosty, but I didn't find an issue for it in the phrosty repo, so I am starting this one.
Upper-left science (Roman_TDS_simple_model_H158_35303_8.fits)
Upper-right template (Roman_TDS_simple_model_H158_39140_3.fits)
Lower-left subtraction (decorr_diff)
Lower-right template (decorr_zptimg) rotated and aligned with science image and convolved with science PSF.
