How do I go about updating the Proton VPN Linux app to its latest version within Ubuntu?
The changelog shows the latest version 4.8.1 released on 2024/12/05 at 10:00.
My problem is I have three (3) separate laptops all running Ubuntu as their Operating System and not one of them finds an update available. Something has changed because for a short while I could check for and then apply updates to newer versions using Ubuntu’s built-in Software Updater (the white and gray letter “A” surrounded by a circle). This is no longer working as Proton updates do not show up amongst the other updates available and I have no clue if there is an alternative method for updating the app.
Here are the stats for my three laptops:
Laptop 1:
Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS
Proton VPN Linux app 4.4.4
Laptop 2:
Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS
Proton VPN Linux app 4.3.3
Laptop 3:
Ubuntu 24.10
Proton VPN Linux app 4.3.2
The third laptop I just upgraded today before writing this post (2024/12/07) from Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS to Ubuntu 24.10 to see if a newer Proton VPN Linux app version was a part of the package updates during the upgrade process, but it stayed stuck at version 4.3.2. It is also weird why they would all stop updating at three different versions.
I appreciate any help I can get.
