Notable changes per version, in the shape of Ares' own "What's New" documentation. As there, the lists are non-exhaustive: internal changes, refactoring and optimizations appear only if they are notable. Entries credit their author, and where a fix came from another project, the upstream pull request.
Ares grouped its bug fixes into three categories: fixes to genuine bugs in unmodded Yuri's Revenge 1.001, fixes to vanilla logic that goes unused or does not behave the way mods expect, and efficiency or crash fixes. Antares adds a fourth: fixes to bugs in Ares itself, which Ares never listed because it did not know about them.
-
Abduction no longer leaves occupation bits behind on the terrain when the victim was moving, which used to make the cell permanently impassable. (Trsdy, Phobos #1417)
-
Amphibious technos with
MovementZone=AmphibiousCrusherorAmphibiousDestroyercan enter water structures again. OnlyMovementZone=Amphibiouswas exempted from the naval mismatch check. (CrimRecya, Phobos #1595) -
UnitDelivery places buildings facing north, rather than at a facing derived from the target cell index. That facing is still used for units. (NetsuNegi, Phobos #2155)
-
AltCameo is shown for buildings with
UndeploysIntoonce the matching vehicle factory has been infiltrated, the way it already was for the vehicles themselves. (NetsuNegi, Phobos #1995) -
Building animations are no longer put back on a building that has been sold, erased or destroyed. Ares lets them expire rather than deleting them, so they outlive the building and their death lands in
Detach, which used to restore the Idle and Active anims onto a corpse. (Trsdy, Phobos #1588) -
Cloning facilities that are also a war factory no longer kick out clones past the free-link check, which used to pile them onto the exit cell and jam them. (NetsuNegi, Phobos #1967)
-
Convert.Deployno longer fires repeatedly while the unit is turning or moving. Ares checked the locomotor ahead of the game's own deploy-state checks, so a turning unit never advanced its state and converted every frame. (CrimRecya, Phobos #1782) -
Type conversion releases a unit held by a Temporal weapon instead of just detaching from it, which used to leave the victim frozen with nothing left to warp it back in. (Starkku, Phobos #1560)
-
Survivors are placed inside the scenario-init mutex, so a crew bailing out of a destroyed transport lands at the wreck rather than being relocated. (NetsuNegi, Phobos #2020)
-
InitialPayload is created outside the scenario-init mutex, so payload units get their Academy veterancy and teams spawned by trigger actions are no longer created empty. (Trsdy, Phobos #1283)
-
InitialPayload passengers are marked as having been on the map, so an
OpenTopped=yescarrier standing somewhere they could not have reached on their own still lets them fire. (NetsuNegi, Phobos #2166) -
Type conversion resets the barrel facing from the new type's
FireAngle, instead of leaving it at the angle the old type set. (TaranDahl, Phobos #1838) -
Flash.Durationnow applies to repair weapons. The game's heal path flashes for a hardcoded seven frames before Ares gets to look at the warhead, and Ares only ever raised the remaining duration, so any shorter value asked for was ignored. (Sovietianqi, Phobos #1821) -
Parasites only follow their host while they are still inside it. Ares synced the position unconditionally, so a parasite that had already emerged was dragged back onto the host whenever it moved, which looked wrong and caught the parasite mid-transition. (NetsuNegi, Phobos #2140)
-
InitialPayload logic did not support being used for transport units that belong to the infantry class; this restriction has been lifted. (Noble_Fish, Phobos #2316)
-
PreventScatter logic could previously only be defined on a per-warhead basis; now
Warhead.PreventScatterhas been added as a global default. (Noble_Fish, Phobos #2340) -
SW.AutoFire no longer acts as a prerequisite for
SW.ShowCameoandSW.ManualFire; these two flags can now function independently ofSW.AutoFire. (Noble_Fish, Phobos #2335)
Reconstructed from the shipped Ares 3.0p1 binary onto the Ares 0.A codebase (internal 16.1.1010), the last version released with source. The goal of this release is to behave the way shipped 3.0p1 behaves, not to improve on it, so its bugs were reproduced along with its features.
