The ammo counter has two attachment modes - scope and rail - which can swapped between by using the ammo counter attachment in hand. The default attachment mode, scope, functions as intended and attaches to weapon scope slots without issue. Swapping it into rail attachment mode, however, does not work. Guns with rail slot but not scope slots show as if they can attach an ammo counter in close examine, but trying to attach it to these will not function. It will instead continue to act as a scope attachment, this presumes the interact fails to actually swap the type of attachment it is.
