syntax error on startup

Hello, If I understand the manual correctly, I should be able to open a FASconCAT-G menu by typing:

perl FASconCAT-G_v1.04.pl

However I receive the following error message:

[melliwhitaker@boslogin04 EP]$ perl FASconCAT-G_v1.04.pl
syntax error at FASconCAT-G_v1.04.pl line 9, near "<"
Excessively long <> operator at FASconCAT-G_v1.04.pl line 20.

Please, can you send a screenshot. Otherwise, its difficult for me to help you. FCC-G has been used several times since its publication and we never got a problem like that.   Best   Patrick
