How to use with flatpak?

How to use with non-steam games like from lutris and heroic games launcher?
And how to use with flatpak?
I am on bazzite-desktop edition, and heroic games launcher is installed as flatpak, how to use scopebuddy eith those games?

for flatpak i have not done it myself but i have heard people having various success just running the whole flatpak inside scb, but it is not something i utilize, it would be the same as running the whole flatpak inside gamescope.

work has been done on the scopebuddy end to enable scopebuddy being included in the gamescope flatpak runtime (so flatpak applications can use it instead of gamescope), however the person who was willing to help with it is now busy with exams which take priority 🙂

🥳I figure out how to use with lutris(non-flatpak)-->

first thing to do is create config file

next simlink config in the following directory as shown below and remeber name of config file

Next open game configuration in lutris and click on system option, and add following in the environment variables and command prefix Enjoy🥳

Now need to figure out how to use with heroig games launcher. Since i am using flatpak hgl and flatpak+umu+gamescope does not works. I will try with hgl.appimage

🥳 Wo ho... I Figure out how to use with Heroic Games Launcher.

In the wrapper arguments fields in New Wrapper add "scb" and in Wrapper Arguments add "--".
And in Environment Variable fields in Name add "SCB_CONF" and in value add config file name.

Tip: you can put these configs in your own Lutris and Heroic folders if you want and include the folder in the SCB_CONF var

ex: SCB_CONF=heroic/amongus.conf

This is very good to know, I will update my documentation when I have the time! This also made me realize I never explained how to set a game-specific config in Lutris. I thought it would be a lot of extra work to integrate into the GUI, but seeing this:

ex: SCB_CONF=heroic/amongus.conf

I can just have the tutorial point to AppID/game_config.conf and avoid complicating things beyond that

My plan to have the tutorial use AppID/game_config.conf is because it works with the current app version. I can definitely work on making a proper solution, though I don't have nearly as much free time now as I did back when I initially was making the app. I'm not opposed to working on it when I get the chance though, especially with how much easier it is to work on using ledif's kde-dev distrobox

Then i could make an ENV var that lets you set the AppID

SCB_APPID=game_config would then set the app id and the conf would then be AppID/game_config.conf
think that will work for you @rfrench3 ?

I currently have the tutorial set to this which works nicely, beyond this I can only think of letting the GUI choose/make non-appID folders to put files into (so you could have a SCB_CONF=Lutris/game_config.conf for Lutris, SCB_CONF=Heroic/game_config.conf, and just put configs in the base folder, for example). For if/when it becomes possible for AppID configs to automatically work outside of Steam, is there a planned folder structure to separate games based on launcher/other factors that I could attempt to add?

I'm currently working on an update that'll properly save the "use global gamescope config" option (because it doesn't keep track of that in the latest published build) and let the apply buttons enable/disable dynamically if changes are/aren't present, the same way that official/proper KDE apps handle settings

to avoid clashing with steam i think any automatic appid detection that is not steam would either go into AppID/lutris/id.conf if we want it contained in 1 folder
or we can do 1 folder for AppID, 1 folder for Heroic and 1 folder for Lutris.
It is also why i suggested a way to just manually set the AppID through an env var as that would also let us "support" any new launchers too.

Whichever we think will work best in the long run is what will be decided both you and @porkloin have a voice in that decision since you are both involved with scopebuddy directly or indirectly

As long as the format is consistent, implementing any new folder structure would take roughly the same effort on my end. If I was the one setting up that structure, I think the cleanest solution would be to give each launcher a dedicated folder:
(this would make /AppID a supported but legacy folder that is treated the same as a /steam folder)

                  /...

I'm not sure how this would impact the scripting or noscope elements of scopebuddy and would be no easier for me to implement than your suggestion, so I have no preference either way. The only difference to users I can think of is that your suggestion would have people type SCB_APPID=lutris/game_config.conf while mine would have people type SCB_CONF=lutris/game_config.conf

the main difference would be SCB_CONF sets the "global" config while SCB_APPID would still load the global config defined by SCB_CONF, then load the new config and override anything that was set in the global config (just how the appid configs work but you set the "appid" config manually) :)

i also agree with the folder structure, steam can just be a symlink to AppID
