The Alaska BLM data (used for Federal and State public lands layers) appears to label any township with some public land as 100% public owned. This scale is not usable for hiking or hunting. Suggest using borough-level data instead. The data is mostly available from local governments, but it's a tall order, I know. Thanks!
If borough level data is used I suggest pulling Federal/State/Borough/Municipality and Native Lands into the layer (Native Corporation Lands, while not public, constitute about 1/4 of the lands in the state and are largely open to permitted recreation, though not hunting. It's important to delineate these lands in an obvious way.)
