OpenShell with recent windows updates breaking windows?

We have noticed an issue at a site that uses OpenShell on about 75% of the stations. on stations that have it, it seems end users are activating indexing. Microsoft goes to apply a latest HF and the indexing and other parts of windows just stops working. I mean you cant open event logs, outlook wont connect and teams wont connect. If we remove OpenShell, run a windows repair then everything works again.

Has anyone noticed anything like this, any suggestions to prevent this?

Couldn't this step alone be responsible for fixing the issue?
Have you tried to run this repair without uninstalling Open-Shell?

yes, but then it would break again. from what i can tell it has something to do with the indexing.

Open-Shell does use indexer when doing searches (when you type something to search box).
You may try to disable various search-related setting in Search Box settings. To see if that somehow helps.

Though I don't see how queries to indexing database could cause the issues you have described.
