Start vm occur Error: The operation was canceled

When I was stuck at the "start vm" step, I tried manually running the following command:
vmrun -T ws start /mnt/data/wufisher/science-board-vm/ScienceBoard-Env/VM/Ubuntu.vmx nogui
However, I encountered the following error:
Error: The operation was canceled
My VMware version is 17.6.0.
I'm not sure whether this issue is related to the vm image itself or some other configuration problem.

Have you placed your vm image in a remote host without a GUI? Some unexpected problems may occur, which are hard to solve without a screen, e.g. a popup dialog to be clicked by your mouse.

This might have been a legacy problem for VMWare, and I've struggled a lot with that. Therefore all debugging & evaluations are tested under my local machine, and I strongly recommend you to startup the image once under VMWare Workstation.

Thank you very much! After launching the VM via the GUI, I found that the issue was caused by missing vmmon and vmnet kernel modules. I resolved it by installing the modules from https://github.com/bytium/vm-host-modules.
(It seems that disabling Secure Boot did not solve the problem.)
I hope this solution can help others as well.
I haven’t started other tasks yet — hopefully I won’t run into more issues!
