Make pull before pushing the default or at least an option

When I try to push changes, often I seem to have changes in the remote and find myself not been able to push. I then have to pull and get the two repositories merged, before pushing. This is inconvenient and I would like to either get the plugin to always pull before pushing or at least allow this as an option.
