Is it possible to host files on a local desktop but access Sia storage from remote server? #11

Desktop:
I am running sia-ui on my mac have setup an allowance, and gotten 50 contracts approved. I uploaded some test files using the GUI and it seems to be working.

Server:
In an alternate universe/data-center, I'm running a VM that is hosting nextcloud and I've added the Sia app. It needs me to enter in an API location, and a directory. Is this because I need to run siad on the Nextcloud instance instead of my desktop? Is there no other way to access items I've uploaded to Sia than from the same desktop I've uploaded them from? Would be nice if I could upload from my desktop, but still have access from my server. I really don't want to poke a hole in my firewall to have my desktop accessible from the VM I have on the internet, but I see no other options if I want to continue testing.

Alternatively, I could also run a local nextcloud instance on my Mac and federate, but not sure that would work either.
