Are more modern graphics rendering pipeline examples planned? For example:

  • Ambient Occluision (GTAO)
  • Terrain rendering / Tesselation
  • Global illumination
  • Ocean / Water

No, we're not currently planning to work on more examples here. Donut is being used to develop various SDKs such as RTXDI or Path Tracing SDK or KickstartRT. Basically, next-gen rendering tech. Providing examples on complex and well-known techniques (terrain, water) or techniques demonstrated elsewhere (GTAO) is outside of our current scope of work. Also, "global illumination" is a very broad topic with dozens of known solutions, each with its own strengths and weaknesses.

Ah, thank you. That makes sense. I was under the impression it was more of a Benchmark or Engine sample.

Would Falcor be the place for this request, then?

You can request this of Falcor, but I doubt that they will do it either. Falcor and Donut serve similar purposes, only built for and by different teams (Graphics Research and DevTech, respectively).
