Requesting changes: the required grammar rejects the Nemotron template's own layout (a newline before the first call, newlines between parameters), plus a few streaming regressions and a pre-existing infinite loop. Details inline.

tensorrt_llm/serve/tool_parser/qwen3_coder_parser.py:405-411
🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick winDo not let an unclosed
<parameter=block hide a finished tool call in complete text.
_find_closing_tagreturns-1when a<parameter=block has no</parameter>. In streaming,-1correctly means "wait for more text"._extract(Line 424) and_parse_block(Line 439) work on the complete output, so there is no more text to wait for.
- Trigger: in
automode, a model emits<tool_call>\n<function=get_weather>\n<parameter=location>SF\n</function>\n</tool_call>and leaves out</parameter>.- Before this change:
_extractusedtext.find("</tool_call>")and still parsed the call. The note in the existing tests says the parser deliberately accepts a missing</parameter>.- Now:
_extractgets-1. It addstext[s:]tonormal_textand stops the loop. The raw XML goes back as assistant content, and every later<tool_call>in the same output becomes content too.The required grammar cannot produce this output. Every
qwen3_coderdeployment inautomode can.Fix: add a flag for complete text so that the first end token is used when the parameter never closes. Add a regression test with a missing
</parameter>followed by a second valid call.🐛 Proposed fix
`@staticmethod` - def _find_closing_tag(text: str, end_token: str, start: int = 0) -> int: + def _find_closing_tag( + text: str, end_token: str, start: int = 0, *, complete: bool = False + ) -> int: """Find a closing tag outside parameter values.""" cursor = start while True: end = text.find(end_token, cursor) parameter = text.find("<parameter=", cursor) if end == -1 or parameter == -1 or end < parameter: return end parameter_end = text.find("</parameter>", parameter) if parameter_end == -1: - return -1 + # Complete text: an unclosed parameter cannot close later. + return end if complete else -1 cursor = parameter_end + len("</parameter>")- e = self._find_closing_tag(text, self.tool_call_end_token, s) + e = self._find_closing_tag(text, self.tool_call_end_token, s, complete=True)- body_end = self._find_closing_tag(block, "</function>", body_start) + body_end = self._find_closing_tag(block, "</function>", body_start, complete=True)🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

1145-1160: 📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winAdd a regression case for an unterminated parameter in a named tool call.
TestQwen3CoderRequiredToolscovers grammar acceptance, schema rejection, delimiter preservation, malformed names, streaming, and truncation. Both changed test files are already listed intests/integration/test_lists/test-db/l0_cpu.yml.The remaining gap is a named call such as
<function=get_weather>with a parameter that has no</parameter>. The current malformed cases use an incorrect<too_call>tag or an empty function name, and the truncation case removes</tool_call>. Add the missing-</parameter>case and assert the intended parser result.Coverage is broad but needs this regression case.

Enable required tool choice for native Nemotron serving, including Super 3.5 VL, with XGrammar and model-specific serving extensions. Resolve thinking state from the rendered prompt and relay it between context and generation workers. Preserve tool arguments across streaming boundaries and recover omitted parameter closers in unconstrained Chat Completions and Responses output. Keep required-grammar argument boundaries and partial previews intact. Cover grammar constraints, extension policies, request validation, reasoning-mode resolution, and incremental tool parsing. …coder-parser-parity Resolve qwen3_coder_parser.py against NVIDIA#20422 (required tool choice for Nemotron Super 3.5 VL), which restructured the same parser: - Main's structure is kept: build_required_structural_tag, parse_partial, finish, the complete flag and _find_closing_tag for call and function boundaries, and strict parameters in grammar-constrained output. - This branch's parameter handling is kept for unconstrained output: vLLM's schema typing, a parameter that ends at the next parameter tag when its closer is missing, a last unclosed parameter kept with a warning, and arguments streamed in the order written. - Without </function>, a function body now ends before the tool call's closer, and when the text is final a closer that ends it also ends an unclosed last parameter, so such a call is still parsed instead of returned as text. - The streaming half of test_unterminated_last_parameter_ends_with_function now calls finish(), as the serving layer does: an unclosed last parameter is only known to have ended once the stream does. Tool parser, Responses streaming tool-call, serving-extension and reasoning tests: 1377 passed. The vLLM parity corpus (1252 cases) still matches vLLM. Signed-off-by: JunyiXu-nv <219237550+JunyiXu-nv@users.noreply.github.com>
Resolve responses_utils.py and test_responses_streaming_tool_calls.py against NVIDIA#20422 (required tool choice for Nemotron Super 3.5 VL): - _should_send_done_events stays removed: this branch replaced it, so main's partial-parse change to it does not apply. _apply_tool_parser keeps main's partial and finished parameters. - _generate_streaming_event keeps this branch's end-of-stream handling rather than main's finish() call inside _apply_tool_parser. That call folds text the parser releases after a call into the delta before the call, so "Before. <call>After." would stream as one message item. A whole-text parser's finish() now also runs at the end, to clear what it still holds; its whole-text parse still decides the calls and the released text. - Main's three Qwen3-Coder streaming tests are kept, with a local _make_mock_output. The partial-preview test now checks that the text item done when the call starts holds only "before", instead of that no text item is done yet: here a started call ends the open item. Responses tests 232 passed; tool parser, serving-extension, render and reasoning tests 1418 passed; router/disagg 243 passed (the 6 cache_salt router failures are the local binding, as before). Description
Enable
tool_choice="required"for native Nemotron serving (nemotron_handnemotron_h_omni, including Super 3.5 VL) withqwen3_coderand XGrammar. Build the mandatory XML grammar through the tool-parser hook and select model eligibility throughServingExtension. Accept the model template's whitespace and zero-argument layouts. Addresses NVBug 6932723.The shared
nemotron-v3,nano-v3, andk-exaonereasoning parser now resolves thinking mode from the rendered prompt for all Chat Completions requests, including requests without required tool choice. Disaggregated context workers relay that mode to generation workers. Required-tool grammar support remains limited to native serving. Missing or incompatible reasoning-parser configuration returns an HTTP 400 with--reasoning_parser nemotron-v3guidance.Unconstrained tool output recovers omitted
</parameter>markers at a complete boundary before the next call, or at generation completion when the enclosing function and call have closed. For example, a malformedf(x="abc")followed byg(y="1")yields both calls in whole and streamed responses. When a string contains the entire apparent closing/opening call sequence, unconstrained recovery prioritizes separate calls; required-grammar parsing preserves that sequence as argument text. Responses previews wait for generation completion before applying final-call recovery.Shared streaming also preserves partial markers and individual literal delimiters, compares reasoning/tool marker positions, flushes pending Responses text, and recovers from empty function names. Explicit free-form parameter schemas return a clear HTTP 400. Named-function and disaggregated required-tool support remain separate.
Test Coverage
TestOpenAIChatIntegration.test_required_attaches_mandatory_grammar(tests/unittest/llmapi/apps/test_serving_extensions.py:487) verifies admission and mandatory grammar attachment; Nemotron required requests fail with HTTP 400 without the feature. Generation is stubbed; grammar validation uses real XGrammar. 7b583a0812: 1,405 passed, 1 skipped across the serving, tool-parser, reasoning, Kimi-extension, and Responses suites. Ran on an OCI CPU node with real XGrammar and the current Python source overlay on TensorRT-LLM wheel1.4.0rc0.dev202610090112. Full PR-diff pre-commit passed. The recovery assertion fails on the prior PR HEAD; removing partial-preview handling reproduces premature text completion.Earlier live validation at feature commit
d8b3443c98used 4× GB200, TP4, BF16 weights, FP8 KV,stream_interval=10, and zero/four postprocessing workers: 71 cases per mode plus a Responses suffix check. One four-worker thinking case exhausted 768 tokens and passed with a 4,096-token budget. Control-tag argument tests used schema patterns to force exact values. Those GPU runs predate the recovery-policy and extension-hook updates above.
