+ Derechos are long-lived mesoscale convective systems (MCSs) that are known for producing extreme and extensive wind damage. They have impact over a large area (usually multiple states), with individual locations sustaining severe intensity winds for as long as 20 minutes or more in the most extreme cases. The data presented here were used to analyze derecho cases that had long-duration winds by simulating each one using the Weather Research and Forecast (WRF) model and examining how the dominant wind-producing mechanisms for both the strongest and longest-duration winds vary across each simulation. The observed derechos occurred on 21-22 June 2015, 10 August 2020, 29 June 2023, and 20-21 June 2025.
