Hi @NASA-Openscapes/2022-nasa-champions-team ,

Thanks for your being part of our third cohort call last week! We had hands-on time in the JupyterHub and were able to get a feel of what working there is like. Next week we’ll focus on NASA Earthdata access in the Cloud. Below is a light digest of Call 03.

We’ll see you tomorrow during Co-Working if you can make it (optional); we have Mentors from GES DISC, NSIDC, and LP DAAC confirmed and will be setting up additional times as well; please reach out via Slack in the meantime as you have questions!

Cheers,
The NASA-Openscapes Mentors @NASA-Openscapes/mentors-2021

Digest: Cohort Call 03 [ 2022-nasa-champions ]

Cohort Folder - contains agendas, video recordings, pathways folder
Cohort webpage: https://nasa-openscapes.github.io/2022-nasa-champions
Goals: We explored JupyterHub!

Task: Have a Seaside Chat about JupyterHub
With your team, explore/practice JupyterHub. Ideas:

Slide Decks: JupyterHub Clinic

A few lines from shared notes in the Agenda doc:

Prompt: Share about your Seaside Chat – have you been practicing with GitHub?

  • ‎Diff ways to use GitHub, what’s the best way to start, conflicts with collaborating, even with yourself. Phased approach
  • Diff backgrounds - not only scientific backgrounds but also the technology. Eg long-time git users learning GitHub
  • My group and I are still struggling to incorporate GitHub into our daily work routine.
    • Change in mindset - how does it become something that’s useful, it’s hard to create a new way to work
  • We got started with GitHub, but the conversation about sharing more generally (and getting organized with Google Docs) was equally valuable
