chapples take fall damage even though they fall slowly

my poor chapple i named muerto just died because of this. 
i had a video of this, but it's too big to post here and i'm too lazy to upload it to youtube, so just:
1. summon a chapple a bunch of blocks above the ground
2. observe as it spontaneously perishes upon reaching the ground
