Extremely slow for busy site

Currently I am using maxmind ... But I gave a try to switch to 
ip-countryside... But I have found the whole process is extremely slow.. making 
my server load  very high.. Is there any way to optimize query?

Hi,

The lookup.php and ip2country (C++) are just demo files. Since they read the
database from HDD every time, a lookup takes about half a second.

If you are doing many lookups, keep the database in memory. If you are using
PHP, go for a shared memory object. The lookup itself (binary search) only
takes 0.000058 seconds, so you can do thousands of lookups per second.

Another solution: You could also use a (MySQL) database for the lookups, here
