Cannot create 3D contour with version 0.2.1.7

With previous versions when wanting to do a contour cut, I select 3D contour, select my entire model and then click Generate Contours. In version 0.2.1.7 I cannot select my object with the mouse and have to select it by clicking it in the tree on the left then when I click Generate Contours, it says "No Mesh Selected". No matter what I do, I cannot generate contours. I have gone back to 0.2.1.6.

You are ruining a great machine with very poor software.
