What is thy suggestion?
There are numerous crafter buttons which could be combined with this mod without any downsides. As crafters are now dealing with 4 hotbars of buttons practically, this would greatly improve the (non macro) crafting experience.

Here are my proposals:

  1. Basic touch -> standard touch -> advanced touch, and precise touch overriding all 3 if it's available. Extremely rarely you may wish to use standard or advanced touch without first having used basic touch, but you will never need to use basic touch if the standard touch combo is ready. To account for this basic touch should be the button that upgrades as it is mutually exclusive.

  2. Basic touch -> Refined touch. Refined touch should become basic touch when not comboing. There is 0 reason to ever use refined touch without basic touch and these are mutually exclusive.

  3. Muscle memory -> basic synthesis (or muscle memory -> careful synthesis). As this ability is only available step 1 and is an objective improvement for crafter progress over both basic and careful synthesis, it does not need its own dedicated button.

  4. Reflect -> Byregot's blessing. Reflect can only be used action 1 and byregot's can only be used with inner quiet stacks (IE not action 1). Thus these are quite literally mutually incompatible.

  5. Observe -> Tricks of the trade. I believe there is no reason to ever use observe if you are capable of using tricks of the trade which does the same thing but restores crafting points. I may be wrong here I am open to input.

  1. Are abilities in question must be truly mutually exclusive?

All abilities I listed I believe are mutually exclusive in the way that I would implement these combos.

  1. Does this actually saves you button space?

Between 5 and 7 buttons depending on if you ever need to use advanced touch or standard touch out of sequence.

  1. Is it wild and wacky?

Yes its for a crafter job. but given the button bloat state of crafters I hope people can see some value in this. We have so many buttons now.

  1. Is the overall level of intelligence required to execute is about as low as the floor?

Its crafter so you have all the time in the universe to make these decisions. So yes.

P.S.

I am putting these ideas out there to get input from fellow crafters both if these combo actions make sense to others and if there are other crafter actions that ought be comboed. if people like them I am more than happy to write a pull request.

I'd like to add to this for gatherers -- Ageless Words -> Wise to the World is a combo I'd like to see, since Wise to the World can't be executed without Ageless Words.

I've been leveling all my DoHs recently (around lvl 70 currently) and have been silently spiraling into the abyss spending time trying to figure out how my hotbars should be laid out as I approach 80, 90, and eventually 100. These combos would be truly amazing.

My own preference for points 3 and 4 would be Muscle Memory -> Intensive Synthesis, and Reflect -> Precise Touch, which would also be mutually exclusive as Intensive Synthesis and Precise Touch are both only available when material condition is Good or Excellent.
