When building a speaker cabinet it is important to limit any cabinet resonnances introduced by the drivers. This is mainly done by creating a sturdy cabinet and filling it with various acoustic foam materials. These work great, but are often oil based and not the most sustainable product available.
This is a small and sturdy cabinet, but there will likely be a need for some kind of damping.
In the "old days" wool (yes from sheep) where used.
Within this task we need to source and test various sustainable alternatives to the modern "poly fill" material.
Material goals:
Sustainable
How does different products compare with each other an to no fill
and what about wool?
Sourcing should be relatively easy - and possible for small businesses as well as individuals
A material should improve the acoustical performance of the overall speaker compared to a cabinet without acoustic fill
Definition of Done
Wool and other compatible materials have been tested and compared
the selected material must be significantly better than no fill
Documentation
List of parts must be updated and the construction process as well.
