I am using v1.2-973...

Edit -> Preferences -> Grid & Background -> Checked Background -> Size

There are 4 options in the combo box, 16x16, 8x8, 4x4, 2x2. There is a logic to it, of course, but why not allow custom size?

Perhaps I missed something. Apologies.

Thank you for developing this great program and making it available to all.
