Purpose:

To create a program that can trade in the stock market: Day trade or Swing trade depending on risk level selected.

Problem Set:

Determine which stocks are expected to have big move and creating a threshold to enter and exit the stock when certain criteria are met. Back test strategies performance and then forward test. Once enough confidence in the strategy is developed trade live.

Audience:

• Individuals interested making money in the stock market without having to stare at a screen all day. The riskier the individual the more aggressive the strategy they will use.

Platform:

• Whichever is easiest to implement. Web, Mobile, or Desktop App (Flutter?)
• Python for the backend

API:

Finnhub

Project Features:

• Present Candle sticks of different duration: 1 minute, 5 Min, up to 1 day.
• Create moving averages
• Create support and resistance lines
• Show user past performance based on previous trades.
• Make it look like a trading platform or connect to a live trading platform when fully implemented.

User Experience:

• They will be able to use the website to get all the information they need about the stocks they are interested in investing.
• They will be able to see a game plan of the strategy.
• Potential challenge:
• Where to begin to create project?
• Brain storm the most efficient way to use the group collective knowledge to get a working prototype.

Hey Rick!

Nice work on this outline. I know we've already talked about this a lot, so I like how well fleshed out this is! Here are a few thoughts I had running through your document:

It seems like the main focus of the project is to do data analysis on stock trends, which I think it really cool! It seems unlikely in that case that your team will have time to set up any actual trading during this semester. That might be something you can keep implementing after the semester, or you might scratch the automatic trading aspect in favor of the interface running analysis and providing suggestions to the user.

I think it would also be helpful to have a bit more clarity about what exactly the user can do with the interface. It's pretty clear what the whole program can do for the user, but I'm not entirely sure about what features would be in the interface. What kinds of functions can the user perform with the tool?
