filenames with unicode, doublequotes

I'm transferring my music library from Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS to my Pixel 8a (both up-to-date) using jmtpfs + rsync.
I find filenames containing unicode or double-quotes cause a failure in jmtpfs.  If I rerun the rsync, that doesn't help; I need to unmount, disconnect/reconnect the phone, remount, and then can retry (after renaming the file).

I plan to debug, but figured I should report it.
