Good morning. Just found this amazing program, and it seems really helpful. Just have a few questions I want to ask, just in case Hope someone would be able to answer those small questions I have. Thank you in advance, and thank you for that great program you brought us! |

Some games may take a performance hit when loading (usually very small) while others see a performance improvement (if they're disk-limited rather than CPU-limited for loading). The monitoring in the background is just so you can keep track of which folders you've compressed; when they get updated by e.g Steam, their files aren't automatically compressed but CompactGUI can still detect that and show you which games you need to compress again. You can leave it running in the background, all it does is wait for Windows to notify it when a watched folder changes, so 99% of the time it's doing nothing at all. Not every game will compress exactly the same, and the wiki doesn't distinguish between older and newer versions of games either. It's quite possible warframe used to be poorly compressed by default but the developers improved it over time. |
