Would it be possible to create the MacOS libHeliosDACAPI.dylib for arm64 Apple Silicon?

The currently posted MacOS dynamically linked shared library is only for x86_64.

Alternatively, do you have instruction as to how to create an updated libHeliosDACAPI.dylib?

I thought the current dylib already supported arm64, sorry about that.
I will build the file again soon when I find time, but if you need it ASAP you can easily build it yourself. There is a whole Xcode project that you should be able to simply open and compile for the target you want.
After building you'd also need to run the command in rpath_command.sh to make sure that the libusb dylib in the same folder is recognized, and that the libusb dylib also supports arm64 (I think it already does).

Previously, I had the Python/C++ Library example of writing basic data to the USB Helios device working on MacOS in May 2025 using Xcode to build and PyCharm for Python.

This same example now locks up my Apple Silicon M2 Mac running MacOS 26. I have tried to re-make in Xcode repeatedly and whatever options I try … the first load of dynamic library in Python code, when I call to find USB device in Python this causes entire Mac to lockup/reboot. Cannot figure out what is causing this/what changed.

Are you able to verify that if you use the GitHub version with Xcode to build your example fresh that it works in latest MacOS 26 on ann Apple Si processor? I am also confused by the naming of the dylibs in your Xcode build example and the library name string in the load in Python?

Would you be able to load the GitHub code cleanly and see if the example builds and runs the way you expect?

As a cross check I used the (Apple Clang) g++ at terminal with helios_dac .cpp files. This included compilations of the form:
g++ -Wall -std=c++14 -fPIC -O2 -c HeliosDacAPI.cpp
with the final step combining all the object files generated to the final .dylib. I included the additional idn-related code.
g++ -v -shared -o libHeliosDacAPI.dylib shared_library/HeliosDacAPI.o HeliosDac.o libusb_bin/macOS/libusb-1.0.0.dylib idn/idn.o idn/idnServerList.o idn/plt-posix.o

When I execute the Python interactively
HeliosLib = ctypes.cdll.LoadLibrary("./libHeliosDacAPI.dylib")
and then
numDevices = HeliosLib.OpenDevices()
The Mac locks up and reboots on the latter command.

This is the same behavior as my Xcode build.
(Using -std=c++23 makes no difference)

I haven't forgotten this but just as a heads-up, I don't have a lot of time these days so I cannot guarantee when I will be able to look into this... In the meantime I recommend using an older version that previously worked for you.

I ran the Tag: helios_dac-sdk_v10.1 (Nov 23, 2024) and it worked ok on MacOS 26 / Apple Silicon.

With the latest Main release do you think it will run OK on RaspberryPi or there may be the same issues as I am seeing on MacOS?

I cannot say for sure without testing, it is possible the same problem is there. But at least previous versions of the library have been tested on Raspberry Pi.
