What does 'total_params' represent?

Hello,

I have been working on the DP4-AI/DP5 package and looking at the code for automatic proton NMR elucidation. One of the outputs of **process_proton** fuction is called _'total_params_' which I am having hard time interpreting it. Would appreciate if I can get some explanation about it.
