Request for Guidance on Getting Started with Open Source Contributions

I hope you're doing well. I am new to open source contributions, and while I am eager to contribute to projects, I’m feeling a bit lost on how to begin. I have explored some of the projects on the GSSoC website and found a few that interest me, but I'm unsure about the first steps to take and how to get started effectively.

I realize this is my first time contributing, and I would greatly appreciate any guidance or suggestions you could provide. I understand that asking might feel a bit daunting, but I’m eager to learn and grow through this opportunity. If you could help me understand how to get started or point me in the right direction, I would be extremely grateful.
