Framelink is an MCP server. The thing that consumes the data from Framelink is the client. E.g. Cursor, Windsurf, etc. Most MCP servers run on the user's local device at the moment, though some newer ones are starting to be served remotely via URL. |

Your distinction makes sense if you separate where the source data lives from what protocol role the component is playing. Figma is still the ultimate source of truth for design data, but Framelink can still be an MCP server if it is the process exposing that data to an MCP client in the expected protocol shape. |

Analyzing the Framelink and Figma documentation related to the MCP concept, Framelink appears to be more of an MCP Client that runs on the Host rather than an actual MCP Server, since the one providing the context is Figma, just like Github, Google... Does that make sense?
Excellent tool, you did a great job!
Thank you.
