An interesting take on open science movement from the feminist perspective (1), is just one angle for the discussion of and for promoting inclusiveness, accessibility and diversity in Open Science as well as all science. Open must necessarily extend to the human-side of science, the scientists behind the work that is open to critique and open to scrutiny need to be protected from systematic biases including the worst kinds of racial, sexuality and gender-based stereotypes and discrimination, that leads to the exclusion of people outside the 'pale+male' (again, though bro's aren't all males/cis-men, it is more of an attitude and a place of privilege, i.e. seniority or secure funding, from which to look down on others scathingly).
Further Inspired by twitter pile-ons by Bropenscience dude-bros (not necessarily males see, 2.), recently I thought it would be a good angle for FOK to take a strong stance (already happening) and to come up with more ways to actively counter the systemic biases withing the Open Science community(i.e. pitch campaigns targeting these topics head on). I propose that FOK should be proudly Feminist, Anti-Racists, and Anti-abilist, and Anti-trans&homophic. We should promote Ally work amongst privileged persons within the community, and promote and foster the science of under-represented groups. There is already excellent work and discussion in this field regarding science and sub-disciplines of science, e..g with societies/conferences organisers making diversity statements etc, and also detailed research in to the psychology and sociology of these biases, and discriminatory structures within academic. (for a quick insightful summary see the documentary film 'Picture a Scientist' now available on Netflix).
