How do you work with large change proposals?

I have just created a large change proposal that a human would take maybe 2-3 weeks to implement. But it is meaningful amount and separating it into separate proposals would mean losing the context for the whole feature.

But after prompting the AI to apply the change proposal, the AI created a internal TODO list with most of the tasks from the proposal task-list. It even started doing everything by itself on the primary agent and not delegate to sub-agents.

Was did work for me was to prompt explicitly to take smaller chunk and to use subagents. The result was that it still took a quite a large chunk but I think it will be able to fit it in a single context with the subagents doing the work.

Prompt:

/openspec-apply add-plugin-system
- work only on the group-sync portion. do not work on the notifications and webhooks portions
- Dispatch individual @general subagents for individual task

Maybe it would be helpful if the openspec prompt includes such suggestion to the agents? Maybe such exmaple can be added to the readme?
