Hello people,
I have a simple class as explained in this code:

I am recieving data from an API, after which i need to do some manipulation and calculate the value of rate using the data in the object itself, then forward it as a REST call again, Is there any way in which, I can skip creation and maintain the model/dto class, and directly add a field to the returned object.

yes, this looks like the correct way, thanks @pjfanning, I needed a bit specialised version of custom serialization, wherein it happens implicitly in a webclient. which is answered here: https://www.baeldung.com/spring-webclient-json-custom-deserialization, thanks for help, marking as completed.
