This will not begin directly. Atleast a week or two will be spent in deciding a GUI structure that is convenient and in-line with egpg philosophy before basic functionality is added.

I think it is better to use the GPGME APIs for python and not other wrappers like PyGPGME and PyMe because their maintenance is long stale. Also, in an old mail from the mailing list, I found that PyMe was folded into the GPGME project later and is now maintained directly under GPGME.
