Preprocessing Scanned Images to Detect Paper Region

Hello,

I need to preprocess scanned images in order to identify the location of the white paper within the image.

Is this possible, and what approaches would you recommend?

This is a nice problem. See Issue #722, which has been open for over 2 years. In it, I provide some suggestions, but I haven't worked further on it (yet).
