Describe the solution you'd like
A bit of a flipped version of the suggestion to emit messages to a certain channel.

Obviously this could be a lag issue, so it may be best to limit it to a pre-set channel? I.e. GPHUD will pick up any message sent on 12345 or whatever the config tells it to.
I'm thinking that similar to the item/object interface, it could be used to run an action or trigger a GSscript.

For example, if I wanted to integrate an outside game system/RLV/etc, I could just have GPHUD listen to the channel the non-gphud object talks on to cross the barrier.

Additional context
I think it'd be nice to have and along with allowing the HUD to send a message on a defined channel, could really expand the horizons of what GPHUD can do.
