Use location only in CarPlay

I love side car!
But one aspect of what I believe can be improved is, it’s behavior should be same as the maps application. It should take my location continuously while using it in CarPlay, and when I open the app on my phone, it should use location at that time as well.
When I put the app in the background, it should not use my location continuously.

Right now I see the location indicator around the Dynamic Island on my phone.

I have set my location permissions to be “only while using the app” still it goes on in the background.

If I am doing something wrong, please let me know!

Thanks for reporting this! Sidecar's only recently started supporting CarPlay-only and the "only while using the app" location mode, as Sidecar was previously optimized for being an all-day trip logger as part of Sidecar+. I believe there might still be some edge cases where Sidecar has assumptions about the trip logger being used which is why you might be seeing more location activity than expected (even though trip data isn't being tracked).

I'll make sure to take a look at this soon as part of the turn-by-turn navigation feature I'm working on launching by end of year!
