Since we changed a website to use https the following error occurs when loading the page: 0 - fsockopen(): unable to connect to ssl://api.twitter.com:443 (Unknown error)
twitter-error
Can you update the script to use https as well?

It's not my code deciding to connect in that way, it's Joomla's underlying HTTP adapters. It's also independent of whether your site uses HTTP or HTTPS; Twitter's API has always been HTTPS only.

You can try using the advanced settings to force a specific HTTP adapter to be used (curl is generally preferred).

Thank you Michael. Using the curl was the solution.

I mailed (contact form on your site) you on the 2nd of this month about this problem, but haven't received an anwser. Maybe you forgot to respond, but maybe there is something wrong with the contact form. Just to let you know :-)
