Thank you for your hard work; it is greatly appreciated. I have installed the software as a GSI (Generic System Image) using DSU (Dynamic System Updates) Sideloader.
I'm wondering if it's possible to conduct testing in this configuration, or if I need to install it using Fastboot for a full testing experience? Your guidance on this matter would be extremely helpful.

Yes, DSU mode testing is just fine.

It looks like your OTA file sequence is corrupted. From A14, go to system updates, use the three-dot menu at the upper right corner, and select Delete OTA files. Right after deleting files, use the adb to flash the system image using the steps you have followed earlier.

First issue was stylus input was enabled and so I had to manually re-enable on screen keyboard instead...

Yep I can confirm this is the case. Just had to setup fingerprints again.

Yep, it seems to be that UI crashes when posture changes sometimes. Google has made several severe changes to some of the system components.

I can replicate this, for me it happens when I'm in book mode and open up the screens further. In the direction of closing the device I cannot replicate the problem. Usually happens when I'm nearing maybe 170°. Most of the times the devices locks again, sometimes System UI crashes.

SD1, both a15 builds, when you go into settings, system updates, it says no apps can perform this action. Also, nothing shows up for build number, so I'm not sure which build I'm on. I had to flash both builds via fastboot, but I've had instances in the past where I'd flash a new build and couldn't tell if it took. Anyway for simple or easily identifiable build numbers?

This issue will be fixed in upcoming iterations, this was due to Google updating the updater utility. You can still access the updated from the phh treble settings.

Clicking either one seems to bring me to the updater. I assume it doesn't matter which I use?

First things I've noticed are the posture changes still have that touch bug from A14, which is to be expected.

Another issue I seem to get is the device doesn't lock when both screens are shut, neither does the screen power on when open from a closed position.

Have you noticed any instances where the device locks when switching from phone to tablet mode?

I've noticed switching from landscape to portrait will induce this. Device open, using both screens, rotate sideways from two screens side by side, to top and bottom. Device locks. Also, at times when holding device in this orientation, the notification shade when pulled down will glitch and assume it's still in landscape

Its not consistently happening, but the launcher seems to be hard resetting when changing between phone and tablet and back, which sends me back to the lock screen.

Did a log analysis on this one, looks like all these issues are related to a crash of systemui.

Home launcher crashes when I try to setup app pairing in a secondary user profile with multiple profiles. App pairing works on primary user profile.

App pairing doesn't work for me either, but I only use a primary profile.

Actually looks like it's working now. Once I setup the fingerprints again in both main and secondary profile. App pairing started working again.

This looks like a cookie-related issue then.

I disabled additional users on the device, also setup the fingerprints again just to be sure, but in the end deleting all data from Trebuchet and resetting it that way did the trick for me.

Another issue I've come across, entering the wallpaper and style section in settings crashes back to settings.

Hi, Have an SD1, got from Microsoft. Was doing beta with them, so they had IMEI# and was getting OTA updates from them for awhile as testing builds. Device has been in drawer for a long time, but want to setup again for use.

Trying to get from 12 up to your 15 version, and participate. Rebooted into fast boot, but first command giving me this:

/fastboot delete-logical-partition system_ext
Deleting 'system_ext' FAILED (remote: 'Command not available on locked devices')

Thoughts? Have OEM unlocking on in dev settings

go to recovery, when you see the little robot press volume up and power, then you should see more options. then do a factory reset.

Hi, I'm facing being stuck on boot logo with out the option asking to wipe data after trying to boot, when i tried flashing A15 from A14. I can flash A14 just fine, and I've tried reverting to A12L and flash A15 directly but still stuck. But i can still revert to A14. I've tried the 1108 and 1026 both vanilla and gapps.
I've had surface duo 2 with the fingerprint sensor broken and 2 broken back camera.
Could someone help please?

Edit : I've also tried switching partition from a to b but still no luck.

I know this may not help, but for the back cameras on duo 2 they should work. If they don't even after fresh installing A15, you may have a faulty camera. This issue can be seen in 12L, but it tries to use the other cameras when one doesn't connect, which ends up being extremely zoomed in on 1x zoom.

If you can, check if the back cameras are connecting correctly and aren't extremely zoomed in on 12L. If they are, it is most likely a hardware issue.

If you have this fault, you'll have to get it replaced, but warranty is probably almost gone by now, might need to find a way to connect the duo 2 cameras up to the default camera app when the others fail.

edit: I realise the camera is already broken, sorry, this situation doesn't apply.

I'm pretty sure it is, I just don't know about updating either one once it's dual booted. Possibly just doing a getvar to see which slot you're in and flashing to that one each respective build. I think I'm just going to get a second duo for the WoA though lol. Keep life simple

I've been dual booting since A13 build from different developer and now with this A15 it's still working. I just tend to manually create my own dualboot.img as per the instructions on WOA project site.

This is a wonderful build, thank you!

I am on duo1, DSU loader of this android 15 rom. Initial loading of the ROM seems to work fine. If I do a copy from another phone, it becomes unusable, showing only a line on the bottom (indicator for swipe up). Also changing wall paper crashed.

Two things.

1. I'd accidently selected the other option under phhsettings for system updates (the factory one, not phhupdate) and now I don't know how to change it from being the default.

2. Is there any way we have flash a local .img from system updates? I've had loads of issue with the OTA for a while now. Would be awesome if I could just download the file and then in system updates, tap the three dots and select install local image.

You can use

adb shell pm list packages | grep updater
adb shell pm list packages | grep update

to figure out the current updater name.

Keep getting grep not recognized. Do I need to install anything? Running a windows machine that's not mine, so I don't want to install too much stuff. It's okay I guess, I'll just have to live with it lol. Or if you just make the default PHH with next update, since the other update doesn't work anyway. Either way, thank you for the builds!! Yes, in the next revision this updater issue will be fixed anyway. However you have to flash it manually.

I didn't realize you are on Windows, try this instead.

adb shell pm list packages | findstr updater

Also, you can dump the results into a text file and search the word updater using Notepad.

adb shell pm list packages> packages.txt

Open packages.txt in Notepad and search for the word "update".

One thing I notice so far is that face unlock is not available? Or I couldn't find it. In Android 14 version, it works fine. Love when I pick it up and it just unlocks it, especially given the somehow different position of the unlock fingerprint button.

Anyone know if it's possible to change pphtrebble settings through adb? Or crashes when I try to change Duo-DE settings and I really need to disable the screen gap

Just a heads up, you can test the android-15.0.0_r23 vanilla build from here. Gapps builds are still a work in progress. This is a beta release and you will see a lot of changes. I suggest DSU side-load for now.

Fingerprint works fine for me on the 311 build. Same with the build I downloaded that's supposed to be from 403. When you install the 403 build, does it flash with gapps? I'm honestly confused. It's showing that is the 820mb, which to me would make sense with no gapps. Only other thing is that I run the 311 build as my daily. I'm not sure if that's causing any issues.

Not the 311 build, there was a build that wasn't released over OTA that had issues with Fingerprints, which is why were not updating the ROM for quite awhile, as we were looking into possible fixes.

The 403 build has no gapps.

to add on to this, there wasn't really a build between the december release and the march release because the upstream android version broke fingerprints for SD/SD2. Archfx had to rollback to the december android version to get it working properly, which is the result of 311.

Okay I give up. I just downloaded the 403 build again, install using dsuloader (on the 311 build) and restart into it. I'm prompted by a setup screen, with the same apps installed as pictured above, and it still showing in build number the 20250311.020417. I'll just wait until something new is released. I've never had this issue before.

The update to 04.15 ended in both screens flashing after boot.

Screen flashing is due to incompatible widget APIs. Use the following command to clear the Launcher cache, this will reset the luncher widget to stock.

adb shell pm clear com.android.launcher3

So aside from issue #200, is v2025.04.20 stable? I don't use any widgets on the home screen and the lock screen widgets are the defaults.

Be careful, dont use the Lockscreen, where you See Temperature in the side IT will force the flickering issue! @Archfx maybe its for you good to know. Beside that, i find IT very good!

Yep. #200 is the critical issue found so far. I was looking for a solution to fix it without wiping the userdata partition. But no luck yet.

Thanks gut the confirmation. Just flashed it and everything looks to be fine. What security patch should this image be at? Treble Updater shows Aug 1st 2023. Build# un "About device" shows BP1A.250405.007 258420.

Wouldn't let me flash the 420 build over the 415 in updater. Would just crash. Manually flashed, but settings still says 415. Should I delete ota files in settings and then manually flash again?

Yep, you have to delete the existing OTA from the updater (inside duo-de treble), and flash the new one. Then the new one will be flashed correctly.

Aruna, I have a Surface Duo 1
My second screen which is located on the left side of the device started flashing green lines and bands a little while ago.
I came across this, actually, by searching for Android updates.
I am not a programmer.
I am hoping to find instructions about loading updates.
The phone is only searching for the Microsoft site updates, when prompted.

Otherwise, I would only know how to upload software updates from the Play Store applications.

Would it be possible to get some instruction information for the code you created?

It works, to charge the pen however you will need a pen charging case/pen charging cradle.

Ive noticed my Fingerprint sensor is starting to throw up errors on the lock screen "Fingerprint hardware not available" after the latest update in may. Checking if other people are experiencing the same?
