What happened?

Hi, after the instalation nothing works, I put the Google AI API, OpenAI API also login into my claude code account. The first strange think was that the application don't dectec github cli, and also I think anything else because If I try for example just send a Hi, in the Insights menu this also does not work.

Steps to reproduce

1. Install on MacOS Tahoe 26.2

Expected behavior

Call Claude Code and work.

same issue, can't do anything, claude is authenticated but the it still says its not connected:

Nothing on the stable (or beta for that matter) versions work, at least on Mac M4 Pro with MacOs 26.2.

1. Cannot add claude code account (or multiple accounts for that matter) as nothing happens when I try to add or login or whatever (claude code installed)
2. Doesn't recognize gh installation altough I had it for a long time on my machine
3. Cannot start tasks (they fail directly with no error)
4. Cannot index project (Failed to load project index spawn python ENOENT) altough I have pip, pip3, pipx, uv etc. installed on machine. Setting manually python path doesn't work either.
5. Ideation doesn't work, it just hangs.
6. Beta version is moving in slow motion on a Mac with M4 Pro, clicking something in the UI takes like 2 seconds to render

Everything on my machine is installed given best practices and official packages, through brew or npm so I don’t have any wonky configurations.

I just installed it today because I liked the idea, but I'm curious if this ever worked as currently, you cannot do anything in it. Even the terminal is broken as it tries to spawn sonnet terminals, although I configured Opus explicitly.

Will give it another try in a month or 2, currently it’s unusable, at least on my machine.

@openhands-agent Please fix this macOS installation/startup issue.

Issue Summary: Fresh install fails - all actions return "Process exited with code 1". App doesn't detect GitHub CLI or other dependencies.

Platform: macOS Tahoe 26.2, v2.7.1

Symptoms:

• Insights chat immediately fails with "Process exited with code 1"
• GitHub CLI not detected despite being installed
• No useful error messages - just generic exit code 1
• APIs configured (Google AI, OpenAI, Claude login) but nothing works

Related Issues: #458, #457

Investigation Areas:

1. apps/backend/core/ - Check subprocess execution and error handling
2. apps/frontend/src/main/ - Check dependency detection logic
3. PATH environment variable handling on macOS
4. Error message propagation from backend to frontend

Required Fixes:

1. Improve error handling to show actual failure reason, not just "code 1"
2. Fix dependency detection (GitHub CLI, Python, etc.) on macOS
3. Add diagnostic logging for startup failures
4. Ensure PATH includes common macOS tool locations:
   • /opt/homebrew/bin (Homebrew on Apple Silicon)
   • /usr/local/bin (Homebrew on Intel)
   • User's shell PATH configuration

Debugging Suggestions:

1. Add startup diagnostics showing detected environment
2. Log actual stderr from failed processes
3. Provide "View Logs" button for detailed error info
