Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Learners often struggle to estimate how long it will take them to complete a learning roadmap based on their available study time and current progress. Existing roadmaps generally provide the same timeline for every user without considering individual learning pace, consistency, or daily study hours. This makes it difficult for users to set realistic goals and stay motivated throughout their learning journey.
Describe the solution you'd like
Add a Smart Learning Pace Predictor that analyzes a user's roadmap progress, completed milestones, learning consistency, and average daily study time to estimate their expected roadmap completion date.
The feature could provide:
- Estimated number of days or weeks required to complete the roadmap.
- Predicted completion date based on the user's current learning pace.
- Comparison between the user's current and recommended learning pace.
- Dynamic updates to predictions as the user completes roadmap milestones.
- Personalized suggestions, such as increasing daily study time to reach a target completion date.
- A visually engaging progress card or dashboard displaying pace statistics and completion estimates.
For example, if a user studies for 2 hours per day, the predictor could estimate that the selected roadmap will take 78 days to complete and suggest studying 3 hours per day to complete it within 55 days.
Describe alternatives you've considered
An alternative would be to display a fixed estimated completion time for each roadmap. However, this approach does not account for differences in users' study schedules, progress, and learning consistency. Another option would be to allow users to manually calculate their expected completion date, but an automated and dynamically updated predictor would provide a more personalized and user-friendly experience.
Additional context
This feature would enhance the personalized learning experience of DevPath by helping users set realistic learning goals, better manage their study schedules, and understand how their current learning habits affect roadmap completion time.
The predictor can initially use rule-based calculations based on completed milestones and average study hours, with the possibility of integrating more advanced prediction logic in the future. The UI should be responsive, accessible, and consistent with the existing DevPath design system.
