I am getting modest performance hit on Safari when using wBlock 1.2.1 (Speedometer 3.1 test score ~43) compared to uBOL (Speedometer 3.1 test score ~46, which is almost the same to having no extension). I noticed some elements take a while to remove when loading pages vs perceptibly instantaneous under uBOL. A decent website to test would be nationalpost.com. I am on macOS 26.2. Attached is my filter list.

Any idea what might have caused this and whether the latency would likely improve in the next release?

From my experience, the speedometer scores vary quite wildly and most importantly are not a measure of "latency" as you're describing. I will improve the responsiveness of wBlock moving forward, but the memory footprint of the app as well as energy consumption is significantly lower than with uBlock Origin Lite in my experience.

I ran multiple Speedometer tests with each extension enabled separately and the results have been fairly consistent. So is the latency of elements / ads removal when pages load.

Going forward I'll likely turn off BPC filter and userscript. Do you recommend enabling the AdGuard Extra userscript in most routine browsing?

I generally don't recommend it. Again, Speedometer doesn't measure latency; it measures rendering speed. It's interesting that you're seeing these results as I and my alpha testers generally see the opposite. I think it varies a lot by machine and the fact of the matter is that you should use whichever app you like more irrespective of minute differences in potential performance.

I can say also that ubol shows better in browserbench 3.1 test then wblock like 32.9>29.4. Apple uses browserbench as benchmark for own ads.

I used the term latency broadly - that it takes longer (with some page stuttering) to produce the final outcome. I see this on both M4 Mac Mini and M1 iPad Pro, with both running the latest stable OS.
